TBR Feature #45

Wednesday 15 March 2017

TBR Feature is the chance for me to, every Wednesday, pick one of my unread books and discuss it: why I picked it up, when I'll get round to reading it, if I'm still interested in it at all etc.

Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

I can't remember exactly when I picked this up, but if I had to guess I'd say it was when the film was out and everyone was making a big deal about it and the ending. I'm pretty sure I know what the ending is, thanks to Google, but I'd still like to see how things unfold for myself.

A few months ago I read Sharp Objects and for the most part really enjoyed it. It was a little weird in places and I found the main character to be a bit annoying, but it made me want to read Gone Girl (as well as Dark Places) all the more. Complaints aside, Flynn seems to know how to craft a decent thriller. But I don't read that many, so maybe I'm wrong and she's actually awful at it.

I have no idea when I'll get to this - although hopefully it will be in 2017 - as I haven't really been in the mood for a thriller. That being said, I have been wanting to start reading more adult fiction but have no idea where to begin. Maybe this could help point me in the right direction.

Have you read Gone Girl?

  1. This book is really interesting! It will take you on one big thrill ride and is seriously a messed up book (but in a good way) there's a lot of info though so keep up!

  2. Ever since reading You, I've been dying to read this. I've just had the biggest craving for thrillers. One of the English classes at my school are actually studying it and I'm so jealous.

    1. I've heard of You but not read it. My mum reads thrillers exclusively so maybe she'll pick it up at some point and I can borrow it, as I very rarely buy them for myself.

Got a thought or an opinion? I'd love to hear it.
