TBR Feature #24

Wednesday 19 October 2016

TBR Feature is the chance for me to, every Wednesday, pick one of my unread books and discuss it: why I picked it up, when I'll get round to reading it, if I'm still interested in it at all etc.

The Crown by Kiera Cass

There's no question of me not reading The Crown (despite how much I disliked The Heir and Eadlyn as a character), but I'd already taken the picture for this blog post. The Selection is - surprisingly - one of my favourite series. Weird, I know, given how often I talk about despising romance in books.

I bought this a few months ago and planned on reading it after I'd re-read the first four books. Fast forward to my birthday, and I received Happily Ever After from my mum, completing my collection. Now that I own them all I really want to revisit the series as I can just blitz through them all and surround myself with pure perfection - and the brat that America and Maxon somehow managed to create.

If I do decide to read these before the end of the month then I'll have gone horribly odd piste and ruined this month's TBR (after only reading two of the books I planned, oops). I've never been very good with TBRs though and that's not a secret, so it won't be the end of the world.

Have you read The Crown?

  1. Oddly enough this seems to be one of my favourite seasons as well and I don't know why! Cass just made this such an addictive series, like a trashy reality show of sorts. But honestly The Crown took a turn for the worst for me. It was not a satisfying conclusion and I'm still sticking by the opinion that Cass should not have made the last two books.

    1. That's such a shame to hear :( I'm about to re-read the series so that I can pick this up and I'm not looking forward to The Heir. I definitely agree she should have left it as a trilogy.

    1. The poofy dresses are great :P But don't let them fool you - it's actually a dystopian setting!

  3. I've been needing to read The Crown for such a long time. I adored the first three but The Heir kind of put me off a bit, Eadlyn was such a brat.

    1. That's exactly how I felt. But I'm re-reading the series so that I can get this one finished with!

  4. I read The Crown a few days ago, and didn't enjoy it that much. I found it really boring and I just couldn't connect with the characters.

    1. That's such a shame :( I was hoping it would be better than The Heir.
