TBR Feature #41

Wednesday 15 February 2017

TBR Feature is the chance for me to, every Wednesday, pick one of my unread books and discuss it: why I picked it up, when I'll get round to reading it, if I'm still interested in it at all etc.

The One Memory of Flora Banks by Emily Barr

Aside from seeing this all over Twitter and Netgalley, I had no idea what it was about before buying it. After reading the blurb in Asda, I decided to give it a chance and so put it in the trolley along with everything else mum and I had chosen.

I'll admit that I am a little hesitant about the romance in this as it sounds like pivotal part of the story and that a lot of emphasis will be put on it. I'm hoping that it's at least genuine and presented well, but this is a young adult book and I know how romance in YA goes and how much I hate it.

I don't think I've ever read anything that deals with amnesia, so I am interested to see how that's handled and what kind of story this will be. It does sound like there's an element of mystery, too, surrounding the boy who kisses Flora and enables her to remember things. As much as I dislike romance, I enjoy a good bit of mystery, so I'm praying this doesn't let me down.

Whether I end up liking this or not, it's a short book so I won't have to spend a lot of time with it.

Have you read The One Memory of Flora Banks?

    1. Thanks! I'd like to review it when I read it, so keep an eye out for that! (You could be waiting months for it, but it should happen. Eventually.)

  2. I've seen this cover around a lot but I wasn't 100% sure what it was about. I don't think I've every read anything about amnesia before either so it sounds really interesting! I'll have to try and read it at some point!

    1. The only thing involving amnesia I've seen is 50 First Dates so I'm looking forward to trying this :)

  3. I'm not sure why, but this one just doesn't seem to appeal to me *shrugs* c'est la vie! Who knows? Maybe one day I'll change my mind and give it a try.

    1. I think it could be the fact that her amnesia is 'cured' by a boy kissing her. That's what I'm sceptical about, but I would like to see how it's all handled.

Got a thought or an opinion? I'd love to hear it.
