TBR Feature #76

Wednesday, 6 December 2017

TBR Feature is the chance for me to, every Wednesday, pick one of my unread books and discuss it: why I picked it up, when I'll get round to reading it, if I'm still interested in it at all etc.

The Graces by Laure Eve

I was actually lucky enough to win this book through a Twitter giveaway hosted by the lovely Amy Jade of Pursuit of Wonderland. Prior to this, I'd seen the book around quite a bit but didn't really know much about it. And that's still the case now.

Everything about this book seems to be shrouded in mystery. I can't seem to find out where it's set, and in Googling to find that out I discovered that the narrator doesn't actually have a name until a ways into the book. A little odd, but I do enjoy a little puzzle every now and then. Usually in the form of a thriller, I'll admit, but it's good to ring the changes.

However, I am a little wary that this will end up a little too whimsical and mysterious for my taste, somewhere along the lines of The Accident Season and The Ocean at the End of the Lane. The fact that it seems to be quite witchy gives me hope, though, as there might actually be some witches in it rather than there just being a paranormal vibe to the atmosphere.

Have you read The Graces?
