As per usual, I’m taking part in The Perpetual Page Turner’s end of year survey. For 2017, however, I’ve modified it a little bit in order to focus solely on the books. That means that I’ve taken out the ‘blogging/bookish life’ and ‘looking ahead’ sections, as my blogging life…. Died…. In 2017, and I want my hobbies in 2018 to be as stress free as possible. So, without further ado – onto the survey.

Favourite passage/quote
"See, anxiety doesn’t just stop. You can have nice moments, minutes where it shrinks, but it doesn’t leave. It lurks in the background like a shadow, like that important assignment you have to do but keep putting off or the dull ache that follows a three-day migraine. The best you can hope for is to contain it, make it as small as possible so it stops being intrusive. Am I coping? Yes, but it’s taking a monumental amount of effort to keep the dynamite inside my stomach from exploding."

So glad you loved Under Rose-Tainted Skies as much as I did!! I think I really need to read After the Fire because I keep on hearing good things about it! Also v glad I'm not the only person who found Finding Audrey frustrating...
ReplyDeleteI'm so, so glad I loved it! I haven't connected with a book that much so it was such an amazing experience. I highly recommend After the Fire! It's a really compelling story and handles PTSD in a really sensitive way. Ugh - Finding Audrey was such a bad representation of anxiety, in my opinion. Made me so angry!
DeleteThe Hate U Give was definitely the best book I read because of other people's review. This book is 100% deserving of the hype. But I have to say that I was surprised by how much I loved the family element, since not a lot of people mentioned it on their reviews. To me, the Carter family was the best part of the book! They're so loving, carrying and funny!
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you! If I could change anything about it I would have perhaps added a bit more plot to it, as I prefer that over character based novels, but I don't know what could have been added to it and I adored their relationships!
