2017 End of Year Book Survey

Friday, 5 January 2018

As per usual, I’m taking part in The Perpetual Page Turner’s end of year survey. For 2017, however, I’ve modified it a little bit in order to focus solely on the books. That means that I’ve taken out the ‘blogging/bookish life’ and ‘looking ahead’ sections, as my blogging life…. Died…. In 2017, and I want my hobbies in 2018 to be as stress free as possible. So, without further ado – onto the survey.

"See, anxiety doesn’t just stop. You can have nice moments, minutes where it shrinks, but it doesn’t leave. It lurks in the background like a shadow, like that important assignment you have to do but keep putting off or the dull ache that follows a three-day migraine. The best you can hope for is to contain it, make it as small as possible so it stops being intrusive. Am I coping? Yes, but it’s taking a monumental amount of effort to keep the dynamite inside my stomach from exploding."

  1. So glad you loved Under Rose-Tainted Skies as much as I did!! I think I really need to read After the Fire because I keep on hearing good things about it! Also v glad I'm not the only person who found Finding Audrey frustrating...

    1. I'm so, so glad I loved it! I haven't connected with a book that much so it was such an amazing experience. I highly recommend After the Fire! It's a really compelling story and handles PTSD in a really sensitive way. Ugh - Finding Audrey was such a bad representation of anxiety, in my opinion. Made me so angry!

  2. The Hate U Give was definitely the best book I read because of other people's review. This book is 100% deserving of the hype. But I have to say that I was surprised by how much I loved the family element, since not a lot of people mentioned it on their reviews. To me, the Carter family was the best part of the book! They're so loving, carrying and funny!

    1. I completely agree with you! If I could change anything about it I would have perhaps added a bit more plot to it, as I prefer that over character based novels, but I don't know what could have been added to it and I adored their relationships!

Got a thought or an opinion? I'd love to hear it.
