TBR Feature #22

Wednesday 5 October 2016

TBR Feature is the chance for me to, every Wednesday, pick one of my unread books and discuss it: why I picked it up, when I'll get round to reading it, if I'm still interested in it at all etc.

Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas

This is one of the books on my TBR that will definitely be being read, but has been put aside as I wait for the series to be completed. Empire of Storms is out now which means that we're only waiting for one more book and I feel more prepared to tackle Queen of Shadows after I reread the first three books.

However. I've heard a lot of mixed things about books four and five in the Throne of Glass series, the most troublesome coming from some of the biggest fans. If people who adored the first half of the series are saying there's been a shift in the writing style and character development, what will I think? I don't want to end up hating a series that I love.

Obviously, I won't know if these people are right until I read the books for myself, and I very much intend on finishing this series. I'm going to try to go in with unclouded judgement and no prejudices, because I'm sure Queen of Shadows will still be action packed and I'll get to learn more about all the new characters, as well as my old favourites.

Have you read Queen of Shadows?

  1. I think the reason I stopped the series was because of that shift in writing and development. Idk just something happened that made me so bored and uninterested.

    1. That's what I'm worried about :/ I've heard it's very, very different to Throne of Glass and Crown of Midnight and almost identical to ACOTAR.

  3. I haven't read any Sarah J Maas books. I'm like: Oh, I should try one! ...and then immediately forget about it! ;)

    1. I would recommend Throne of Glass because it's a bit of fun, but things do definitely change and become more serious and take on a completely different tone.

Got a thought or an opinion? I'd love to hear it.
