TBR Feature #68

Wednesday, 23 August 2017

TBR Feature is the chance for me to, every Wednesday, pick one of my unread books and discuss it: why I picked it up, when I'll get round to reading it, if I'm still interested in it at all etc.

Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver

Do you ever find out about a film or a TV show and think it sounds interesting? Only to learn that said film or TV show is based on a book? And that you haven't read the book but the publisher is doing a giveaway on Twitter? And then you enter said giveaway and just so happen to win?

Because that's what happened with Before I Fall. I had a vague knowledge of it being added to Netflix, and a small interest in reading the book which were totally separate until Chapter 5 decided to give away a few copies of the book. It was the perfect opportunity to read the book and finally understand what it's all about, and watch a film without feeling too guilty about wasting my time.

I honestly didn't expect to receive a copy, but I'm eternally grateful to Chapter 5 Books as now I can create a mini series of blog posts reviewing the book and the film, and maybe even comparing and contrasting the two. I haven't quite decided yet, but I'm hoping I enjoy the story anyway.

Have you read Before I Fall?

  1. I read the book years ago and, tbh, don't remember it that clearly, but I loved it at the time and I'm pretty sure I'd still love it today. I want to reread it to see. ANYHOW, I've recently watched the movie and was pleasantly surprised by it! The actors did a fantastic job and the ending nearly made me cry, even though I never cry on movies. Hope you'll enjoy both. It'd be really cool if you did a mini series of posts about them!

    1. Thank you! The film has definitely peaked my interest more so I'm hoping I enjoy the story in both formats.
