TBR Feature is the chance for me to, every Wednesday, pick one of my unread books and discuss it: why I picked it up, when I'll get round to reading it, if I'm still interested in it at all etc.
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
Last year, I picked this up from Waterstones. I put it down on my shelf where it then stayed unread for far too long. This is - hopefully, anyway - one of the few TBR Feature books that will actually be read soon, thanks to it being part of my English Literature course.
I was initially drawn to it, though, due to my love of horror and desire to read more classics. It seemed like a good place to start, as I already know some basic plot points and we covered it briefly in year eight or nine English. It's also very easy to find notes and information about it online, so if I get confused or stuck at any point I'll be able to remedy it quickly and with ease.
Hopefully I enjoy it and don't get too bogged down by analysing it and picking every last detail to shreds.

Have you read Frankenstein?
This takes a chapter or two to get into but man, I LOVE this book. From what I've heard though, it's kind of marmite-ish, neither my mother nor The Bestie managed to finish it if memory serves, and they're both pretty keen readers. But man, I love this book!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm not surprised to hear that, to be honest. I think a lot of classics are like that, unless you're a die hard fan of them and read nothing else. Hope I end up liking it though!
DeleteOH MY GOD I WANT TO READ THIS SOOO BAD.
ReplyDeleteI've been dying to get my hands on this classic, but I'm never in the mood to read a classic. (Side note you've made me want to read a few classics now)
I'm just such a lazy reader that I don't know if I'll enjoy analysing it.
I'm never in the mood for classics, either, but I kind of have to be for A Levels. I'm glad I've sparked your interest in classics though! A friend of mine sparked my interest as well, and I like being able to chat about them with her because it makes reading them easier. Sadly I have to analyse it for my course, it's not something I'd choose to do!
DeleteI really, really want to read this soon! I'm a huge fan of Penny Dreadful and Victor Frankenstein's plot line was one of my favourites in the tv show. Hope you'll enjoy it!

I never got around to watching Penny Dreadful, but I've seen Once Upon a Time's version of Frankenstein and it was interesting what they did with his character.
