TBR Feature is the chance for me to, every Wednesday, pick one of my unread books and discuss it: why I picked it up, when I'll get round to reading it, if I'm still interested in it at all etc.
The Coldest Girl in Coldtwon by Holly Black
I know I posted a TBR Feature about another Holly Black book a couple of weeks ago, but I have a small collection of her work that I still have yet to read. This one, however, is much higher up on my list of books that I need to read.
When I first got into reading as a teenager, I was all about the vampire and supernatural hype. To a degree, I still am, but I'm much more picky and selective when it comes to the genre. I don't like paranormal romance and I try to avoid whiny and annoying characters, but it can be hard to spot these things by looking at the cover and synopsis alone.
Enter Holly Black: a talented author capable of crafting fantastic fantasy. When I learnt about her vampire book after having read some of her previous work, I knew I at least had to give it a chance. Some of her books weren't as good as others, but I have high hopes for The Coldest Girl in Coldtown. I just hope I'm not disappointed by it.

Have you read The Coldest Girl in Coldtown?
I loved The Coldest Girl In Coldtown! I can honestly say it's one of the best vampire books I've ever read!!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that! Makes me excited to pick it up. :)
DeleteI'd only heard the title of this one before - I had no idea what it was about. I might keep an eye out for it - you gotta love vamps ;)
ReplyDeleteIt is a bit of an odd title, but from what I've gathered, the Coldtowns are vampire quarantines. Definitely intriguing!
DeleteI love this book so much! It's not like your typical vampire book at all. I hope you enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteThanks, I hope I do too! To be honest, I'll be surprised if I don't like it in the end.
DeleteHands down one of the best standalones I've ever read. This was my first Holly Black novel and it made me read Curse Workers, The Darkest Part of the Forest and add Tithe to my tbr - she's between my auto-buy authors. I think if you enjoy her works usually, you'll definitely like this one, too. :)
ReplyDeleteThat's good to hear! I really enjoyed the Spiderwick Chronicles and Doll Bones, but wasn't a fan of The Darkest Part of the Forest.
