TBR Feature #19

Wednesday, 14 September 2016

TBR Feature is the chance for me to, every Wednesday, pick one of my unread books and discuss it: why I picked it up, when I'll get round to reading it, if I'm still interested in it at all etc.

Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor

Previously, I've stated that I didn't want to read this series, and that's still mostly true. I'm not overly bothered by it and I'm not dying to know what happens. I just picked this copy up super cheap and thought 'why the hell not?'

I'll give the first book a chance, but if I don't like it then I won't be picking up the next two books. I have heard mostly good things about the series, but it also looks like one of those that will confuse me. It seems quite complex, which I do enjoy in fantasy, but I just hope it's not overly so.

I'm not sure when I'll get to it as - much like with many of the other books in my collection - I haven't really felt in the right mood for it. It's odd; I don't quite know what I want to read right now, just that I want something good. Of course, I won't know what's good and what's not until I give things a go, so I might just have to take the plunge and pick Daughter of Smoke and Bone up.

Have you read Daughter of Smoke and Bone?

    1. All I know is that it's set in Prague and there's someone with blue hair? I think, anyway haha

    1. Thanks, I hope I enjoy it too! It seems like something that I'd like, but at the same time it also sounds like it has elements that I won't enjoy.

  3. I really enjoyed the DoS&B series - I thought the world-building was pretty complex and creative, but it never became overly-complicated or confusing. For me, the 2nd book was a bit of a disappointment, but the 3rd was one of the best conclusions I've ever read. Overall, DoS&B is a strong 4 star series, in my opinion, but it's definitely worth giving it a chance. :)
