TBR Feature #40

Wednesday, 8 February 2017

TBR Feature is the chance for me to, every Wednesday, pick one of my unread books and discuss it: why I picked it up, when I'll get round to reading it, if I'm still interested in it at all etc.

Legend by Marie Lu

For a long time I'd told myself I had no interest in this trilogy. I'd seen it all over booktube when it first came out and everyone was talking about it, but I just didn't really want to pick it up. Especially when I started hearing mixed reviews.

Why then, do I own the entire trilogy? It was cheap in The Works, my mum was already buying something, and we have a points card. Why wouldn't I grab this?

I know that Marie Lu is a decent writer and can craft an interesting story line, as I've read and loved The Young Elites. I'm hoping she was just as skilled in her earlier work, as this stands to disappoint me. I've never been a huge fan of dystopia, but recently I've acknowledged that I am starting to outgrow it as a genre. Hopefully this will be a good place to end on if it doesn't relight my interest.

This should be a quick, fun read, if nothing else. It would be nice if it ended up becoming a favourite like The Hunger Games and Slated, but if not that's okay.

Have you read Under Legend?

  1. Idk I just couldn't get into this series. I think I got about 30 pages into the first book and then was just really bored. Hope you have better luck though!
