TBR Feature #48

Wednesday, 5 April 2017

TBR Feature is the chance for me to, every Wednesday, pick one of my unread books and discuss it: why I picked it up, when I'll get round to reading it, if I'm still interested in it at all etc.

If I Was Your Girl by Meredith Russo

At the start of 2017 I had a bit of a splurge on books with the money I'd saved and some gift cards I received as Christmas gifts. If I Was Your Girl was part of that haul, as I've heard nothing but good about it on Twitter.

I'm looking forward to picking this one up (eventually) as I liked The Art of Being Normal by Lisa Williamson, which also looks at transgender teens. I feel like, out of the LGBT community, the T is one of the less discussed aspects but one with the most prejudice. Hopefully, this book will teach its reader that there's nothing wrong with how you identify and that it's no one else's business how you live your life.

Honestly, the one thing I'm not looking forward to about this book is having this cover on my shelf. I much prefer the one with the model on, as this one just feels... too cookie-cutter young adult. Ah well; it's what's inside that's important.

Have you read If I Was Your Girl?

  1. Ooh let me know how this is! It's been on the back of my tbr for a while now and I just haven't gotten around to it. I need to feel motivated now.
