January was a good start for my reading year. How did your month go?
This was a Christmas present that I had been eyeing up since my birthday back in December, and now that I finally have it I think it's only right that I read it ASAP. I'm really intrigued as to the themes in this novel, and how it handles abuse, as it's such a delicate topic but one that I would like to be become more involved in. Which... is perhaps not the best way to phrase that. What I mean is that I'd like to specialise in trauma related disorders and care once I'm fully qualified, and reading fiction pertaining to the topic give me insight into the non-fiction I could pick up.
I'm back on my quest to read one Stephen King book a month! I really can't face another long book after Sleeping Beauties, though, but I seem to own nothing but long Stephen King books. Thankfully, I also own a lot of his short story collections, so working my way through those as I get over the disappointment that was his latest novel will be a nice change of pace. I just hope there are some gems in this collection.
As well as working through my Kings, I'd like to get through my graphic novels too. I don't have many left, but Lumberjanes is one of them and it looks like it'll be a fun read! And a super quick one because, you know, graphic novel and all that.
And then hopefully I can squeeze in this little black classic at some point. I'm sure I'll be able to, as it's a play and this edition isn't very long, I just hope I'm able to fully understand it when I do get to it. Whether that be in February or not.
What did you read in January? What do you want to read in February?
