TBR Feature is the chance for me to, every Wednesday, pick one of my unread books and discuss it: why I picked it up, when I'll get round to reading it, if I'm still interested in it at all etc.
The Pleasures of Men by Kate Williams
This is a book that I've already tried reading but had to put down because I couldn't really get into it. I was intrigued but the narrator was so unreliable and the writing was rather unique I just struggled to get very far into it.
The cover and the blurb, and the little bit that I did read, make me want to know just what exactly happens. I want to know if the narrator can actually be trusted, or if everyone is correct in writing her off and not listening to her. Hopefully when I pick it up again I'll make it all the way through and have my questions answered.
It's not a book I'm dying to pick up straight away, but I would like to get to it soon. It's been on my list since I got it for my seventeenth birthday, it can wait a bit longer. I haven't read a historical fiction in a long time, and this is set in the early Victorian period which is my absolute favourite.

Have you read The Pleasures of Men?
I've not read this... What is it about exactly? I think that the title is defiently an eye catcher!
ReplyDeleteA serial killer akin to Jack the Ripper. Not sure what role the main character has to play in it as things came across quite vague (and I didn't get far when I started it) but I think she might actually be in on it.
DeleteI need to read it! that sounds so cool!
DeleteAww I'm sorry that it didn't really intrigue you as much as had hoped. Historical fictional books have always been a favorite, but it's sad that this didn't exceed expectations whatsoever D: I hope you get into it soon!

Thanks, I hope I do too. I'm hoping that once I get into it and get used to the style of it I'll enjoy it more, as it seems very interesting!
